Yesterday I talked about galleries and museums and how great
it is that we can go view different types of art under one roof. I think
what a lot of people don’t realize is that art really is everywhere. Billboards,
cd covers, book covers, computers…these are all different types of art. We see
these things every day and usually don’t give them another thought, at least
where art is concerned. With that said, not everything we see is art and not everyone is an artist; not everyone
who creates something is an artist; the way you style your hair or decorate
your house, for instance, are more forms of your own creativity than art. (We
could get into the art vs. creativity debate, but we’ll save that for another
day.)
I think that if people actually started to look around, they’d
see what they’ve always been missing.
You’d be surprised at what you see when you really start to look. So, next time
you’re out and about taking a stroll, pay attention to what’s around you and
you’ll notice all the different types of art that are out there. You may even
learn to appreciate it even more.
